Archive documents relating to Émile-Jean Lépissier (316 documents as at today) will be divided into 5 chapters :

 

1 – Archive documents relating to Émile-Jean's youth and Paris Observatory period (90 documents)

 

These documents will be splited into 22 e-books.

 

2 – Juliette Lépissier's notebooks (3 documents)

 

Three notebooks written by Juliette, daughter of Maria and Émile-Jean Lépissier, born in June 1855, will be presented to you in the form of 3 e-books :

- The voyage from Paris to Běijīng in 1867 (75 pages)

- Chinese baptism and marriage as well as the Tiānjīn massacre of 1870 (70 pages)

- The trip to Japan in 1872 (44 pages)

 

 

3 – Archive documents relating to Émile-Jean Lépissier in China (63 documents)

 

These documents are available in the form of e-booksthe first of which is the familiy archives e-book (59 documents to date) relating to   Émile-Jean Lépissier's career in China. 

 

4 – Archive documents relating to Émile-Jean Lépissier in Japan (47 documents)

 

These documents are available in the form of e-booksthe first of which is the familiy archives e-book (44 documents to date) relating to   Émile-Jean Lépissier's career in Japan. 

 

 

 

5 – The newspapers  (95 copies)

Apart of the private and public documents devoted to Émile-Jean (166 documents on the site to date – dating from  1848 to 1874 –, but the analysis of the Collection is not yet complete), the Lépissier family is also fortunate to have kept many copies of the newspapers :

 - "Le Progrès" Émile-Jean Lépissier's newspaper in Shanghai (Shànghǎi –上海) - (38 copies) 

- "Le Nouvelliste de Shanghai" newspaper from his competitor, Mr. Henry Auguste Beer (31 copies), 

- "L'Écho du Japon" from Cerf Levy and Xavier Salabelle in Yokohama (25 copies) and,

- "The Tokei Journal" from Devill (1 copy)

These newspapers are, it seems, the only existing collection in the world, to date, at least for "Le Progrès" and "Le Nouvelliste".
